Host 

Summary of Position

The Host position is the first and last contact impression that each guest receives.  Whether the experience is in person, via text, or the phone, what we share and how we make them feel is important. We are looking for a Host with the drive and ambition to run the seating of the dining room of a celebrity restaurant. This person will need to have the ability to make accurate reservations using the reservation system and the ability to seat the restaurant most appropriately to ensure success with service and the flow of the kitchen. The Host will need to know all operational information including menus, events, OpenTable, etc. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

• The host is responsible for maintaining the entrance of the restaurant and welcomes all guests with enthusiasm and a smile. A professional greeting is a must. 
• Makes dining reservations and arranges special services for diners using the system.
• Workstation/area to be always kept clean and neat. 
• Seat guests according to company policy. 
• Maintain complete knowledge of scheduled daily activities and in-house groups. 
• Communicates with the staff, managers, and kitchen to ensure the guest’s experience meets concept/company standards.
• Monitor the open dining sections of the restaurant for empty and cleaned tables while estimating wait times for guests. 
• Monitor the guest waiting list and ensure their needs are met while waiting.
• Answers all calls using proper telephone etiquette.
• Keeps all menus current, clean, in good condition, and ready to use.
• Makes sure entry doors are clean, free of debris, and inviting.
• Ensure that seating is fair for all service staff.
• Check the surroundings to make sure all items are in order such as lights, music, entrance display, signs, windows, plants, restrooms, floors, temperature, etc. 
• Must have menu knowledge and be aware of specials and share the information with guests that are waiting to be seated.

• Ability to communicate in English and Spanish. 
• Self-motivated and resourceful, with the proven ability to multi-task and operate successfully under tight deadlines and time pressures.
• Enjoys a fast-paced, dynamic, challenging, and team-oriented work environment.
• Able to work evenings, weekends, and Holidays.
• Outstanding Customer service.
• Strong ability to motivate and establish a teamwork environment.
• Able to work with Open Table software or learn the system. 
• Exceptional phone etiquette.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some stooping, kneeling, and significant fine finger dexterity. 
• Able to stand for the entire shift and to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds occasionally.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

• A busy, open-area restaurant. Constant interruptions.
• Ability to tolerate varying conditions of noise level, temperature, illumination, and air quality.
