As the Director of FP&A, you will be a critical financial leader driving strategy, budgeting, forecasting, and ad hoc financial analysis. You’ll build and own the FP&A function from the ground up, supporting executive leadership with high-quality analysis, data-driven insights, and operational decision support as we scale our Medicare Advantage business. Reporting directly to the CFO, you will have an opportunity to gather, shape, and present the information that is used to make critical business decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all FP&A activities including long-range planning, annual budgeting, monthly forecasting, and financial reporting
- Partner cross-functionally with actuarial, operations, clinical, and product resources to support strategic initiatives, provider contracting, and cost management
- Build dynamic financial models to evaluate growth, risk, and profitability of various lines of business, with a strong focus on Medicare Advantage economics
- Analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) such as medical loss ratio (MLR), administrative loss ratio (ALR), and member acquisition costs
- Help to lead the Company’s cost containment efforts, on both MLR and ALR fronts, based on analysis of key financial metrics
- Assist with the development of value-based care and risk-sharing contracts with provider partners
- Collaborate with internal and external partners to conceptualize meaningful reports, build them out, analyze results, and provide updates to leadership
- Prepare board presentations, investor reporting, and support fundraising efforts with financial modeling and data storytelling
- Implement scalable tools and processes to automate reporting and improve forecasting accuracy
- Hire and lead a high-performing FP&A team, as the company scales
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, or related field; MBA or CPA/CFA is a plus
- 7 - 10 years of progressive FP&A experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role
- Experience in a high-growth healthcare setting (Medicare Advantage, health insurance, managed care, or value-based care) strongly preferred
- Deep understanding of health plan P&L dynamics, CMS reimbursement, and risk adjustment models
- Proven ability to synthesize complex data into actionable insights for senior leaders
- Self-starter comfortable operating in a fast-paced, ambiguous start-up environment
- Strong Excel and financial modeling skills; experience with other FP&A tools a plus
- Excellent communication and executive presentation skills
