The Academic Instructional Coach reports directly to the building principal. The academic instructional coach is responsible for ensuring high-quality instruction in classrooms through analysis of student data, modeling, co-planning, co-teaching, supporting reflection, and providing actionable feedback to educators and building administrators. The instructional coach works collaboratively with educators and building administrators to help incorporate research-based instructional practices with a particular focus on accelerating the achievement for Black and Latinx students.
Experience:
5 years elementary/middle TWI/DL classroom experience preferred
Bilingual and biliterate in Spanish language proficiency including a strong command of academic language in both languages for grades K-8 preferred
Experience with English literacy instruction and subject-area content across languages
Experience working with striving readers
Demonstrates ability to design and implement instructional strategies that foster growth in listening, speaking, reading, and writing for second language learners in English
Outstanding presentation and facilitation skills, including conducting staff development sessions for school leaders and educators and 1:1 sessions with educators aligned with learning cycles
Demonstrated ability to build trusting relationships with colleagues to support adult learning and instructional growth to foster positive coaching and mentoring experiences
Interpersonal skills (communication, problem solving, conflict management, collaboration) to share research-based instructional approaches to provide constructive and data informed feedback.
School/district leadership experience (i.e. SIT committee, Culture and Climate committee, Dual Language Committee, CAC committee, MTSS Committee) to demonstrate a background in successful collaboration
Education/Credentials:
Bachelor’s degree in job-related area, required
Masters Degree in ESL and Bilingual, preferred
Illinois Professional Educator License, required
Spanish Bilingual endorsement, required
ESL endorsement, preferred
Bilingual LBS1 endorsement, preferred
