About the Role: Everest is seeking a VP, Enterprise Architecture to join the Everest Information Technology Architecture department, located at the US headquarters in Warren, New Jersey or our Hartford, Connecticut offices. This role will be responsible for leading the Enterprise Architecture Department across Everest. The desired candidate will have an established track record of building high-quality enterprise solutions, be results-driven and bring strong architecture/engineering skills and a deep understanding of modern technologies including Infrastructure and Cloud Engineering Standards & Practices, Software and Data Engineering Capability Development, Modern Security and IAM concepts. Successful candidates must have worked extensively in a major cloud environment (Azure, AWS or GCP) and have an excellent understanding of cloud concepts. The candidate must possess strong technical aptitude, analytical skills, communications skills, and demonstrated great problem-solving ability. Additionally, the VP will have overall responsibility of our enterprise Cloud Strategy including definition, migration and modernization of the our technology capabilities. The VP's organization is accountable for guiding and mentoring on technical issues, defining and documenting standards (e.g. patterns, reference architectures, and software/tools), providing architectural governance on projects and products to ensure that they conform to the defined standards and architectural best practices, and designing software and data solution architectures that meet functional and non-functional requirements. The VP2 has significant input into the technology strategy and road-map for Everest. This role has extensive contact with other Company departments and external vendors, suppliers and business partners. The roles primary responsibilities include: Partnering with leaders across the organization to design, support and help deliver against Enterprise Architecture priorities and Everest strategic objectives. Influencing strategic decisions and priorities related to your domain of expertise and remove strategic impediments to delivering value. Measuring performance through established objectives and metrics that deliver agreed upon business, technology, and people results. Provide leadership across multiple technical teams to drive new technology and advancements into Production Provide subject-matter expertise across all Cloud topics as it relates to adoption, migration, operations, management and optimization. Migration to Azure Public Cloud - Drive the development of the overall strategy, migration plan and operating model. Drive the adoption of creative solutions to address complex, global business problems leveraging cloud capabilities. Lead the development and adoption of reference architectures for existing, new and emerging Cloud technologies. Architect Cloud and Cloud-native solutions within Microsoft Azure Cloud. Actively engage and lead the company's migration to Azure Public Cloud. Govern the successful technical delivery of Cloud projects and services by working directly with key business stakeholders, executives and project teams. Create, maintain and align Cloud policies and standards with industry best practices and business needs in the adoption of cloud services and technologies. Work with the broader IT security, risk and compliance organization to interpret policies and standards, ensuring policies and standards. Work with application developers and IT operations to develop, test, roll out and maintain enterprise-wide IAM solutions and services as necessary. Contribute to conducting POCs, evaluation, selection and configuration of new products and services from vendors. Looks for opportunities to capitalize on technology advances through analysis of key industry and technology trends to assess potential impact on the enterprise Act as a liaison between technical teams and business stakeholders during security solution development Provide architecture direction for software and data engineers in support of a technical patterns Ensuring the solutions that are delivered meet high standards for quality, performance, and scale. Looking for ways to reduce cycle time, increase velocity and increase release frequency for teams in the Agile model. Define and communicate software engineering and coding standards Display strong thought leadership in pursuit of modern architecture principals and technology modernization Builds strong business and Technology partnership to ensure alignment with technology strategy and direction To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following: Bachelor's Degree (required) or Master's Degree (preferred) in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field 15 years of overall technology experience in strategy, architecture, engineering, configuring and implementing software solutions and services 15 years of Software Engineering and Enterprise Architecture experience including engineering practices, tools and standards 10 years of successful technology leadership experience at an enterprise level within a company or as a consultant Demonstrated ability to lead in a highly matrixed organization through a combination of influence, partnership, and authority Hands-on knowledge of current technology standards/trends coupled with a desire to continually expand personal knowledge/skills Domain knowledge of the Insurance Industry (preferably P&C) and value chain as well as the technologies and solutions relevant to this industry is desired Ability and interest in mentoring technical staff and raising our collective technical competencies Ability to establish and maintain relationships with other business and technology leaders Strong written and verbal communication skills coupled with the ability to tailor communication to all levels of an organization Open-minded with proven ability to work collaboratively with others in team environment Strong understanding of IT environments, technologies in relation to business needs Demonstrate strong ability to work in a team environment and foster cross-team collaboration Experience executing technology modernization initiatives including migration to cloud native and API Strategies Strong grasp of value creation and business capability models Recent experience working in a Scaled Agile environment with Agile tools, e.g. Jira, Confluence, etc. Strong experience with APIs, accelerators, DevSecOps, Infrastructure as Code and Containers Significant Experience with large scale technology platforms, Enterprise Integration Patterns, Test Automation and Security Platforms Documented experience successfully leading cloud architecture definition, migration and modernization of the our technology capabilities Experience in defining and documenting coding standards and best practices Display strong thought leadership in pursuit of modern architecture principals and technology modernization Builds strong partnership with engineering teams to ensure proper alignment of skills with technology direction Type: Regular Time Type: Full time Primary Location: Warren, NJ Additional Locations: Hartford, CT Everest is an equal opportunity employer.
