Shared Ice Services (SIS) is seeking an experienced, high-volume Recruiter to join our Human Resources team. This role is responsible for full-cycle recruiting to support skilled marine trade hiring for Nichols Brothers Boat Builders (NBBB) and Everett Ship Repair (ESR)—two cornerstone companies within Ice Cap Holdings and the Pacific Northwest maritime community.

This position is based at our Everett shipyard and requires regular travel to our Freeland (South Whidbey Island) shipyard, as well as participation in local recruiting events and outreach activities.

Position Summary

The Recruiter will partner closely with hiring managers and supervisors to meet aggressive staffing demands in a fast-paced shipyard environment. This role requires hands-on sourcing, screening, interviewing, and candidate management across a wide range of marine and industrial trades, including but not limited to marine carpenters/joiners, welders, pipefitters, plumbers, HVAC, sheet metal workers, electricians, painters, and light structural fitters. Success in this role depends on energy, responsiveness, strong relationship-building skills, and the ability to manage multiple requisitions simultaneously.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Partner with Human Resources, hiring managers, and supervisors to identify current and future staffing needs.
  • Manage high-volume requisitions across multiple marine and industrial trade disciplines.
  • Maintain accurate, real-time data within the Applicant Tracking System (ATS), ensuring daily and hourly updates as needed.
  • Develop and post job advertisements using targeted recruiting strategies, including specialty job boards, trade associations, schools, social media platforms, and other creative sourcing channels.
  • Proactively source candidates through online research, databases, social media, referrals, outreach campaigns, phone screening, and local community resources.
  • Participate in job fairs, military transition events, educational campus recruiting, and other networking or outreach activities.
  • Review applications and resumes to assess qualifications and skill levels; conduct phone screens and in-person interviews; and present qualified candidates to hiring managers.
  • Coordinate pre-employment requirements with Human Resources, including background checks and other testing as required.
  • Prepare and present periodic recruitment reports addressing hiring status, sourcing effectiveness, employment trends, candidate flow, and recommendations for building a pipeline of future talent.
Qualifications:

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Management, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • 3–5 years of recruiting experience in a fast-paced, high-volume environment; maritime, shipbuilding, construction, or industrial recruiting experience strongly preferred.
  • Proven ability to engage both candidates and internal stakeholders with professionalism and enthusiasm.
  • Highly responsive, energetic, and goal-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to South Whidbey Island, Snohomish County, and neighboring counties for recruiting activities and job fairs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with exceptional organization and attention to detail.
  • Experience using a variety of recruiting tools and platforms, including LinkedIn, Indeed, and HRIS/ATS systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated success recruiting skilled labor crafts, including but not limited to marine carpenters/joiners, welders, pipefitters, plumbers, HVAC, sheet metal workers, electricians, painters, and light structural fitters.
  • Direct experience recruiting construction craft labor in a shipyard or heavy industrial environment.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish), with the ability to conduct basic conversations with Spanish-speaking candidates.
  • Working knowledge of shipyard and marine trades, including welding processes, steel fabrication, pipe work, electrical, or painting trades.
