JOB SUMMARY of ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Visitor Navigators help maintain a safe and healthy environment for EvergreenHealth Monroe patients, visitors and staff. Navigators provide wayfinding to patients and visitors. Navigators must be able to communicate visitor guidelines effectively and with patience and compassion. Adheres to all hospital Policies and Procedures and Philosophy of Care. Consistently exhibits professional conduct that is a behavior-based expression of the hospital’s Standards of Excellence.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
High school graduate or equivalent required. Working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office products. Prefer a minimum of one-year customer service experience.
SPECIAL EQUIPMENT, SKILLS OR OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Excellent customer service and communication skills. Ability to multitask and work well during stressful situations. Ability to be flexible with work assignments with focused attention to detail and accuracy. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills. Operates communication console, telephone operations. Ability to work productively with minimal oversight.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND HAZARDS:
Adheres to all State and Federal regulations pertaining to hazardous materials and BBP. Exposure to communicable diseases. Limited exposure to hazardous materials.

SPECIAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Prolonged sitting, walking and standing.
SUPERVISES: None.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Greets all persons entering the facility front lobby.
- Adheres to the current organizational visitor and masking policy and provides all visitors and patients with a mask as needed.
- Provide facility wayfinding instructions and information as needed.
- Escort visitors and/or patients to departments as appropriate.
- Must possess basic skills to use Microsoft Office, specialized software and electronic office equipment.
- Accesses the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) as appropriate for job responsibilities to identify patient location(s). Adheres to all HIPAA regulations and internal policies regarding patient identification and ensures confidentiality of patient information.
- Responsible for managing a multiple phone line system; answers and relays incoming, outgoing, and interdepartmental telephone calls on a multiple position switchboard with promptness and accuracy.
- Documents and reports malfunction of all communication systems (telephone, switchboard, online tools) to supervisor, as appropriate.
- Demonstrates ability to notify administration or leadership as appropriate based on visitors presenting to lobby, i.e. Regulatory bodies (DNV, DOH), vendors, etc.
- Ability to exercise sound judgement in determining appropriate actions in emergent situations, problem solving, and retain composure in stressful situations.
- Maintain knowledge of both organization wide and department specific policies and procedures as they relate to visitation and facility operations.
- Maintain good public relations with all hospital staff, patients and visitors through professional mannerisms, appearance, conduct and attitude.
- Provides positive customer services to all patients and health care professionals, as the primary individual the patient, visitor, staff or community member encounters upon entering the main lobby of EHM.
