What are the responsibilities and job description for the FISHING INSTRUCTOR position at Everwood Day Camp?
Working as a camp’s Fishing Instructor, you will create and teach a curriculum for children, aged from 4 to 15, from the shore of beautiful Lake Massapoag. You will be responsible for teaching the fundamentals of fishing while keeping it fun, diverse, educational and age-appropriate. You will be responsible for activity periods for groups of around 15 children at a time, assisted by 1 or 2 Counselors.
The Fishing Instructor will:
Ensure campers’ safety while fishing.
Teach campers about the local fish.
Educate campers on the importance of taking care of our natural environment and the reason why we catch and release fish.
The Fishing Instructor position is perfectly suited to a student or teacher (or similar) who has some fishing interest and/ experience. JOB REQUIREMENTS
ESSENTIAL
An enthusiastic, fun, motivated individual.
The knowledge and ability to explain and demonstrate the fundamentals of fishing.
As a specialist, you are required to be part of our arrivals and departures team. This adds an extra $660 to your base salary for the summer!
Must have completed high school by the end of June.
PREFERRED
Experience of working with children.
Experience of teaching fishing.
8:30am to 4:00pm (this includes a 30-minute break per day)
June 26th to Aug 25th (9 wks, preferred) or Aug 18th (8 wks) and hours are guaranteed.
Mon to Fri each week except for July 4th when we are closed.
Salary range is $4250 and up for 9 weeks of work.
Extra income can be made by working week 9, working as a Bus Counselor or Extended Day staff.
LOCATION
Sharon, MA but with free bus transportation from all over MA.
We need Bus Counselors from Boston, Braintree, Brookline, Chestnut Hill, Dedham, Milton, Needham, Newton, Somerville, Wellesley and more!
Housing is NOT included.
Everwood Day Camp is an outdoor focused summer camp featuring many physically demanding activities on land and water. Staff members are regularly required to walk, hike, and otherwise move in woods, fields, beaches, and lakes. To perform the job, each staff member of Everwood Day Camp must be physically able to travel around a large rural environment (fields, woods, beach, etc.) over uneven ground on a regular basis.
