Job Summary:
Evolution Veterinary Specialists is seeking a LOCUM board-certified Veterinary Oncology Specialist to join our growing specialty and ICU/ER team in Lakewood, CO. Our practice has an excellent team of full-time, 24/7 Emergency doctors as well as Cardiology, Internal Medicine, Surgery, Ophthalmology, Zoological Companion Animals (ZCA), Critical Care, and in-house Radiology support for all our departments.
The Oncologist employs methods and procedures to diagnose and treat medical conditions presented in cats, dogs, large, and small animals. They work closely with owners to understand their pet’s symptoms, health concerns and provide appropriate diagnoses and treatments. The Oncologist is also responsible for the prescribing of medications, therapy, and other specialized medical care to treat or prevent illness and further cancerous growth.

Required Licenses, Registrations, Certifications & Insurance by Colorado Law:
- Colorado Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) License.
- Board Certification through ACVIM.
- Registration with DORA.
- AVMA PLIT Insurance.
- DEA License.
Specialist Duties & Responsibilities:
- Advanced Training & Education in the field of veterinary oncology and diagnostics
- Cytology
- Minimally invasive aspirates and biopsies (i.e. ultrasound guided).
- Contrast radiography and fluoroscopy
- Ultrasound
- CT
- Bone marrow aspiration/biopsy.
- Various methods of Chemotherapy treatment.
- Provide expert care to patients with oncology cases, including diagnosis, treatment, and management of complex medical conditions.
- Regularly attend and participate in hospital rounds.
- Collaborate with other specialists and emergency doctors to deliver comprehensive care to all patients.
- Utilize advanced diagnostic and treatment options,
- Participate in a collaborative team approach to provide the AAHA standard of veterinary care.
- Keep careful medical records for all patients, treatments administered, exams, and procedures.
- Ensure treatment records are completed daily for all patients seen that day.
- Work with referring doctors to collaborate on care plans and follow-up with them regarding treatments administered.
- Promptly answer and return calls from referring doctors, clinics, and clients.
- Working knowledge of the following platforms: EzyVet, Instinct, IDEXX, Cubex.

Schedule Expectations:
Monday through Thursday per diem.
