Position Summary:
The Childcare Associate is responsible for providing childcare in a safe, caring, secure, and effective manner with age-appropriate interactions, activities, and experiences. They are also responsible for closely monitoring the entry and exit of persons within the childcare department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The essential job functions and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
· Greet children and parents in a positive manner, while checking children in and out of the secured children’s area according to Center policy.
· Be well-versed and knowledgeable of the Center’s childcare policies.
· Provide both parents and children a comfortable, safe, and secure environment in a friendly setting.
· Inform and enforce the policy of the department being a secured area for children.
· Be perceptive to parents’ feedback, concerns, and/or questions related to childcare; including being proactive with appropriate follow up with supervisor for support as needed.
· Maintain knowledge on the use of the club management software.
· Help maintain a safe and clean childcare department.
· Complete quality checks of items within childcare department during each shift.
· Participate in departmental meetings and training sessions as scheduled.
· Demonstrate complete knowledge of emergency and safety procedures.
· Maintain knowledge of the Center and its staff, services, promotions, fees, and hours of operation.
· Participate in member promotion and membership sales events.
· Exhibit civility, cooperation, and professional behavior with all persons.
· Support and promote the mission, vision, and values of the District.
· Communicate effectively with other employees, management, members, and other third-parties.
· Follow all applicable District policies and procedures.
· Receive and follow instructions from supervisors and management.
· Complete continuing education and training as directed by management.
· Perform all other reasonable duties as assigned in the future.
Prerequisites and Skills:
The following are mandatory prerequisites to obtaining the Childcare Associate position:
· High School Diploma or equivalent.
· Two-three years’ experience in childcare, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Ability to work in team environment.
· CPR/AED Certified (to be obtained within 30 days of hire and kept in good standing thereafter).
· Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skills.
· High attention to detail.
· Able to prioritize, multi-task, and manage time to meet deadlines and time constraints.
· Intermediate computer skills.
· Possess the ability to be flexible and accommodating as it relates to hours of operations.
· Able to troubleshoot and be resourceful in resolving any problems or issues that arise.
· Ability to understand and follow safety procedures and safely use District equipment.
· Pass a background check.
The following are preferred prerequisites to obtaining the Childcare Supervisor position:
· Coursework in Child Development preferred.
Compensation and Benefits:
This is a non-exempt position. The hourly rate of pay will be dependent upon the level of experience and other bona fide factors. The District is committed to paying individuals equal pay for substantially similar work, when viewed as a composite of skills, effort, and responsibility, and which work is performed under similar working conditions. The position will include the standard District benefits package, which will vary depending on whether the employee is designated as Full-Time or Part-Time.
