We’re looking for a dynamic Business Development & Proposal Writer to join a rapidly scaling consultancy that partners with some of the most innovative names in space and defense.
As a BD & Proposal Writer, you’ll be leading the development of compelling, end-to-end proposals for both commercial and federal opportunities across the DoD, NASA, and other USG pathways. You'll work closely with technical teams, leadership, and client stakeholders to craft tailored responses.
This isn’t just a writing role. It’s a client-facing, commercially-minded position for someone who can bring market context, technical fluency, and strategic vision to each proposal effort, from early capture through final submission.
What You’ll Be Doing
As a BD & Proposal Writer, you’ll be leading the development of compelling, end-to-end proposals for both commercial and federal opportunities across the DoD, NASA, and other USG pathways. You'll work closely with technical teams, leadership, and client stakeholders to craft tailored responses.

What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead and write full lifecycle proposals (Phase I, Direct to Phase II, TACFI, STRATFI, and BAAs)
- Translate complex technical concepts into compelling, fundable narratives
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to align messaging with program goals
- Manage timelines, compliance, formatting, and submission logistics
- Act as a commercial ambassador in meetings with clients, primes, and stakeholders
- Proven experience writing and managing full-cycle government proposals (especially SBIR/STTR, AFWERX, TACFI, STRATFI)
- Demonstrable wins in Direct to Phase IIs or STRATFIs
- Strong client-facing communication skills, comfortable interfacing with founders, engineers, and government POCs
- Experience working in or with space startups, dual-use tech, or deep tech consultancies
- A proactive, commercially curious mindset
- Familiarity with tools like GovWin, SAM.gov, or other pipeline platforms
- Background in aerospace, defense, or R&D consulting
- Knowledge of acquisition pathways like DIU, OTA, or BAAs beyond SBIR
