Summary

The Substation Structural Engineer I will assist the Project Manager and/or Lead Project Structural Engineer in project planning and design, with a focus on meeting essential deadlines and fostering effective collaboration among project team members and various design disciplines. This individual will be a valuable member of a dynamic team dedicated to a diverse portfolio of projects that encompass planning, design, and engineering services in both solar and utility fields.

The position is located in Eden Prairie, MN.

Essential Functions And Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of structural designs, calculations, and drawings of foundations and support structures for electrical substation equipment
• Assist in project specification research, determine applicable building codes, and ensure specific project requirements are addressed in design
• Apply department and relevant standards to prepare calculations and drawings in accordance with project specifications
• Coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams to address structural-related issues or concerns
• Create detailed markups and coordinate with CAD drafters/designers to produce high quality structural drawings, providing drafting support as needed
• Interpret and apply geotechnical recommendations as they relate to structural design
  
  

Qualifications

• 0-2 years of experience
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering in a civil/structural engineering program from an ABET accredited four-year college or university program
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Preferred master's degree with a structural emphasis
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Mathcad, or other computational software's
• Working knowledge with codes including: IBC, ASCE, AISC, ACI, PCI, NDS
• Preferred working knowledge and skills in: AutoCAD, MS Office, Mathcad, RISA 3D, RISA Foundation, LPile, or other FEA Software
