Picker

SUMMARY :

Pickers are responsible for picking orders for production, assuring the quantity and type that is specified. Conduct inventory checks and manage data and transfers. Pickers must adhere to the procedures relevant to order picking and inventory duties. Perform these and other duties as assigned.

Essential Job Duties :

Pulling stock according to FIFO (first in first out) for production orders using handheld device, packing into boxes and on pallets or crates. Deliver the material to the production floor, and placing it in the appropriate areas accurately and safely according to date on production order.

Controlling inventory material and checking accuracy of counts.

Ensuring warehouse safety and cleanliness by using protective safety equipment, operating machinery safely, and performing any necessary cleaning tasks.

Must have the ability to learn how to drive forklifts (sit down and stand up) and any of the machinery to perform the job.

Must have the ability to learn to read and verify packing labels and list, unload pallets of materials, inspect materials for damage.

Need to understand the importance of Inventory control and accuracy at all times.

Need the ability to pull production orders to the floor timely and accurately.

Provide support for all other functions in the warehouse.

Basic computer knowledge, math skills and scale use required.

Qualifications and Experience :

High School Diploma or GED is preferred. Picking material to production order experience is required

Warehouse and knowledge of manufacturing environment is preferred.

Supervisory Responsibilities :

This position is not a supervisory role.

Language Skills :

Ability to read, write, convey and understand instructions.

Mathematical Skills :

Knowledge of basic math skills.

Reasoning Ability :

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but structured written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving variables in standardized situations.

Work Environment :

In this environment safety, environmental and health concerns may demand constant attention.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
