Job Summary:
We are seeking a motivated and experienced 1099 Freight Broker to join our team as an independent contractor. In this role, you will be responsible for sourcing shippers and carriers, negotiating freight rates, and managing the full cycle of freight transactions. You must be self-driven, resourceful, and able to work independently while delivering exceptional customer service.
Pay:
- 100% commission based
- Pay range between 40-50% net pay
Key Responsibilities:
- Source and maintain relationships with shippers to secure freight opportunities
- Identify and vet reliable carriers to move freight
- Negotiate freight rates with both shippers and carriers
- Manage all aspects of freight movement, including scheduling, dispatching, and tracking
- Ensure on-time pickups and deliveries
- Handle any freight-related issues and resolve conflicts
- Maintain accurate records and documentation
- Comply with all federal and industry regulations
Requirements:
- Must have a minimum of 3-5 years of proven freight brokerage experience (preferably in a 1099 capacity)
- Must have Existing book of business and strong shipper relationships
- Working knowledge of TMS software and load boards (DAT, Truckstop, etc.)
- Strong negotiation and communication skills
- Self-motivated with a strong work ethic
- Must have valid freight broker authority and insurance (or partner under existing MC if applicable)
- Reliable internet and home office setup
Compensation:
- Up to 40-50% net pay
- Commission-based pay – earn a generous percentage of each closed load
