Overview
ExplorUS is a family-owned company with nearly 30 years of experience operating National, State, and local park concessions. Over the years we have worked to enhance, elevate, and complement the visitor’s experience at each park, landmark, and property we operate. We’re seeking a Staff Accountant that will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day accounting operations and the month-end close processes for several National and State Parks. This newly created role will be an important aspect of our fast-growing organization with lots of growth potential. Reporting to the Controller, this role will be based out of our Overland Park, KS corporate office.
At ExplorUS, we focus on finding small to medium-sized park operations where we can make a large difference. We take great pride in acquiring underperforming park concessions, turning them around, and bringing them up to and beyond the expectations of our park partners and park visitors.

Responsibilities
- Responsible for daily accounting functions for multiple property locations including but not limited to daily bank and cash reconciliations, balance sheets, income statements, journal entries, and month end closing processes.
- Identify and problem solve cash discrepancies.
- Prepare monthly reports for regulatory agencies.
- Ensure all financial transactions adhere to legal standards.
- Perform analysis of budgets.
- Prepare and file sales tax returns.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field.
- 1-2 years of experience providing daily accounting operations.
- Proven knowledge of accounting principles with the ability to respond quickly to a changing work environment.
- Self-motivating attitude with strong organizational and attention to detail skills.
