Overview
The Assistant Director of Human Resources will play a critical role in supporting the Area Director of Human Resources in overseeing all aspects of the hotel's H R function. This position is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the HR department, ensuring compliance with all relevant labor laws and company policies, fostering positive employee relations, and contributing to a culture of care and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will be a proactive, solutions-oriented leader with a strong generalist HR background, ideally within the hospitality industry.
Key Responsibilities
Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive experience in hotel Human Resources, with at least 2-3 years I Human Resources Human management in a hotel setting. Proven experience in a high-volume, fast-paced urban market, preferably New York City. To perform this job successfully, the employee will possess the abilities or aptitudes to perform each duty proficiently with or without reasonable accommodation.

- Employee Relations:
- Serve as a primary point of contact for employee inquiries, concerns, and grievances, ensuring timely and fair resolution.
- Provide guidance and support to managers and employees on HR policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Conduct thorough and impartial investigations into workplace issues, recommending appropriate actions.
- Promote a positive and inclusive work environment through effective communication and proactive engagement initiatives.
- Assist in managing and interpreting collective bargaining agreements, if applicable.
- Compensation and Benefits:
- Assist in the administration of compensation programs, including salary adjustments and performance-based incentives.
- Educate employees on benefits packages and assist with enrollment and claims.
- Manage Workers' Compensation claims, ensuring proper documentation and employee care.
- Ensure compliance with all hiring standards, laws, and regulations (e.g., EEO, Affirmative Action Plan).
- Conduct new employee orientation programs to welcome and integrate new hires.

- Training and Development:
- Support the development and delivery of training programs focused on enhancing employee skills, professional growth, and compliance.

- HR Administration and Compliance:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date personnel records, ensuring compliance with data privacy regulations.
- Administer and manage the Human Resources Information System (HRIS) and Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS).
- Ensure continuous legal compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations (e.g., FLSA, FMLA, ADA, OSHA).
- Prepare and analyze HR reports and metrics (e.g., turnover, absenteeism) to identify trends and inform decision-making.
- Assist in the annual HR compliance/standards self-audit.
- Leadership and Support:
- Manage and supervise the daily activities of the Human Resources department in the absence of the Director.
- Participate in and facilitate meetings, monitoring and developing team member performance.
- Support the hotel's strategic objectives and contribute to overall business success.
