Job Summary :

Join our team as an Ophthalmic Technician and play a vital role in patient care! This position involves hands-on interaction with patients to prepare them for their eye exams, with comprehensive on-the-job training provided.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Gather patients' medical and eye health histories.
  • Document information using an electronic medical record (EMR) system.
  • Prepare examination and treatment rooms.
  • Perform preliminary eye tests to assist the doctor, including :

Visual acuity testing

  • Color vision screening
  • Auto and manual lensometry
  • Auto and manual refraction
  • Tonometry
  • Amsler grid testing
  • Pupil evaluation
  • Other diagnostic tests as needed
  • Administer eye medications as directed.
  • Assist physicians during minor surgical procedures.
  • Maintain and calibrate ophthalmic equipment.
  • Refill and prescribe medications on behalf of the doctor.
  • Handle prior authorizations for patient prescriptions.
  • Travel to other locations as required.

  • Education and Experience :

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Medical experience preferred but not required-willing to train the right candidate!
  • Physical Requirements :

  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, reach, stoop, walk, and lift as necessary.
  • Sufficient vision, hearing, and communication skills to perform tasks effectively.
  • Must be able to drive independently to other facilities as needed.
