What are the responsibilities and job description for the Ophthalmic Technician position at Eye Care Specialists?
Job Summary :
Join our team as an Ophthalmic Technician and play a vital role in patient care! This position involves hands-on interaction with patients to prepare them for their eye exams, with comprehensive on-the-job training provided.
Key Responsibilities :
Gather patients' medical and eye health histories.
Document information using an electronic medical record (EMR) system.
Prepare examination and treatment rooms.
Perform preliminary eye tests to assist the doctor, including :
Visual acuity testing
Color vision screening
Auto and manual lensometry
Auto and manual refraction
Tonometry
Amsler grid testing
Pupil evaluation
Other diagnostic tests as needed
Administer eye medications as directed.
Assist physicians during minor surgical procedures.
Maintain and calibrate ophthalmic equipment.
Refill and prescribe medications on behalf of the doctor.
Handle prior authorizations for patient prescriptions.
Travel to other locations as required.

Education and Experience :
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Medical experience preferred but not required-willing to train the right candidate!
Physical Requirements :
Ability to sit, stand, bend, reach, stoop, walk, and lift as necessary.
Sufficient vision, hearing, and communication skills to perform tasks effectively.
Must be able to drive independently to other facilities as needed.
