Peer Support Specialist
This is a full-time position located in Grand Forks, ND
F5 Project is hiring a full-time Peer Support Specialist to provide a source of connection and support for individuals in our programs. Peer support specialists utilize their lived experience to assist others on their journey to recovery and wellness. One’s recovery journey and lived experience can be from numerous realms such as substance use disorders, mental health disorders, brain injuries etc.
If you’re an individual that has a passion to care for the needs of participants who are justice impacted, or those with mental health and addiction needs - we’re looking for you! Overview of Responsibilities
● Work with participants to:
○ Inspire hope
○ Mentor and assist with setting goals
○ Build life-long skills
○ Create strategies for self-empowerment
○ Providing valuable extensions to care teams
○ Provide support focused on advocacy, coaching, and mentoring
○ Educate and inform about available resources
● Facilitate and attend meetings with participant as needed
● Complete all Peer Support trainings and attend Peer Support meetings
● Maintain participant confidentiality at all times, following HIPAA guidelines and regulations
● Stay organized with the ability to keep accurate notes and records
● Identify areas and provide feedback for the improvement of programs within F5 Project
● Proactive in continuing self-education on providing quality care
● Other duties as assigned Skills and Requirements
● High School diploma or GED equivalent
● Valid driver’s license
● Basic computer skills knowledge
● Good oral and written communication skills
● Team player with a desire to be a member of a fast moving effective team
● Have a minimum of one year of personal recovery
● Successful completion of the Department of Human Services (DHS) approved Certified Peer Specialist training and certification exam
○ If individual does not have this certification, they must be willing to complete it within 60 days of employment
