Job Summary
The Fairbanks Rescue Mission is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Shelter Coordinator plays a vital role in overseeing the daily operations of the shelter program, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for residents. This position requires a compassionate individual who can provide crisis intervention, and coordinate services for individuals in need. The coordinator will work closely with various community programs to promote the well-being of residents and facilitate access to necessary resources. Responsible for making the Mission run efficiently by performing a wide variety of duties to oversee the cleanliness, orderliness, safety, and security of the facility.
Duties
- Physically able to walk the grounds on a periodic basis to conduct building security checks and lift up to 40 pounds.
- Completing new client admissions.
- Documenting client interactions.
- Supervising chores and room checks.
- Maintain a secure environment by enforcing safety protocols.
- Overseeing medication distribution.
- Providing crisis intervention and safety planning.
- Maintaining program and client confidentiality.
- Ensuring safety and security of the program and residents.
- Oversees daily operations, manages client services, and ensures compliance with regulations.
- Oversees operational needs, program objectives, and safety and cleanliness of the shelter.
- Responsible for calling law enforcement and professional medical assistance when necessary.
- Implement crisis intervention strategies to address immediate needs and conflicts among residents.
- Facilitate communication between residents and external service providers, including social workers and healthcare professionals.
- Oversee data entry, filing, and data collection processes to maintain accurate records of resident progress and program outcomes.
Experience
- Experience working with people with addictive behaviors, mental illness, and/or co-occurring disorders strongly desired.
- Strong communication skills are necessary for effective interaction with residents and external partners.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to multi-task, strong organizational skills, and crisis intervention skills.
- Work with minimal direction and make decisions involving significant discretion while observing professional boundaries.
- Computer literacy, including a good working knowledge of basic software applications.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- First aid certification is advantageous for ensuring resident safety and well-being.
- Must have driver’s licenses.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.67 - $21.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
