Fairfax Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) is dedicated to advocating for the best interests of abused and neglected children as referred by the Fairfax County Juvenile & Domestic Relations District Court. Our mission is to ensure that each child's needs are identified and addressed with the goal of living in a safe and permanent home. We recruit, screen, train, and supervise volunteer CASAs who provide consistent support and representation for vulnerable children. Role Description
This is a full-time hybrid role for a Supervisor of Volunteer Advocates (CASAs) located in Fairfax, VA, with some work from home flexibility. The Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and supporting a team of volunteer advocates. Day-to-day tasks include providing guidance, training, and supervision to ensure effective advocacy efforts. The Supervisor will review case reports, assist with court preparations, and communicate regularly with advocates to address any challenges or concerns. Additionally, this role involves collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure the best outcomes for the children served.
Qualifications
- Experience in volunteer management, supervision, and training
- Strong understanding of child welfare, advocacy, and the court system
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Strong writing and editing skills a must
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a hybrid work environment
- Law degree preferred. Bachelor's degree required
- Experience working with children and families in crisis is a plus
