Project FORT Director (Major Crimes Unit)

Fairfield County Ohio
Lancaster, OH Full Time
POSTED ON 8/5/2025
AVAILABLE BEFORE 10/5/2025
Under the direct supervision of the Operating Board, the South-Central Ohio Major Crimes Unit is seeking a Project FORT Director.  The Major Crimes Unit (MCU) is a multi-jurisdictional Law Enforcement Task Force serving the citizens of Fairfield and Pickaway Counties, the city of Logan and Ohio University in Athens.  The Task Force is uniquely equipped to investigate and arrest those individuals involved in drug-related crimes across the jurisdiction, a mission it has successfully carried out for the past fifteen years. However, the Major Crimes Unit and its Operating Board believe that nontraditional initiatives to combat the opiate problem must be identified and implemented including programs that seek to direct those impacted by addiction to available recovery services, no longer solely focusing on incarcerating individuals who have committed low level drug offenses, as a way to reduce drug abuse.

It is the belief of the Major Crimes Unit that the Opiate issue and the resulting fatal and non-fatal unintentional overdoses occurring within Fairfield County require non-traditional progressive approaches to achieve a desired result.

The Director will be a vital member of the South-Central Ohio Major Crimes Unit by providing support, leadership and management to the task force and overseeing the state and federal grants which fund the project.

  • Manage the grant and other sources of funding obtained to facilitate the program
  • Attend required meetings in Washington DC related to the grant
  • Attend overdose response team project meetings
  • Attend necessary participant board meetings
  •  Assist in the creation and implementation of a public awareness campaign, project marketing, and community outreach events as part of a Community Substance Abuse Education and Prevention program
