The Village of Fairport is in search of a Deputy Director of Finance for the electric department (Fairport Municipal Commission). The Village of Fairport is a mature and progressive community located in Monroe County, New York, approximately eleven (11) miles southeast of downtown Rochester. The Village is surrounded by the Town of Perinton and is adjacent to the neighboring municipalities of Penfield to the North, Pittsford to the West, Egypt and Macedon to the east, and Victor to the South. The Village provides a full range of municipal services including municipal electric. Fairport Electric operates a budget of $33 million with approximately 45 employees. The electric service area consists of the Village of Fairport and the surrounding Town of Perinton and has over 18,000 electric meters.
This position serves as the Deputy to Fairport Electric’s Chief Financial Officer. The electric department operates within an enterprise fund. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting the Chief Financial Officer with the financial operations for Fairport Electric, including financial planning, budget preparation, general accounting and reporting, revenue billing and collection, payroll, and benefits administration.
The Village of Fairport is seeking an experienced financial professional who possesses a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or related field with a minimum of four (4) years of experience, in one of the fields mentioned, or an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. Experience working in governmental entities, specifically municipal utilities, is highly desirable.
