Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of dental procedures and terminology, with experience in both general and pediatric dentistry. This role involves providing chairside assistance during dental procedures, managing patient records, and ensuring a smooth workflow in the clinic. A commitment to infection control and patient comfort is essential.
Duties
- Assist the dentist during various procedures, including four-handed dentistry techniques.
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all necessary materials are ready for use.
- Take and develop dental X-rays while adhering to safety protocols.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation and patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Manage patient appointments and assist with front desk duties as needed, including scheduling and confirming appointments.
- Monitor vital signs and assist in the assessment of patients’ oral health.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care.
- Ensure adherence to aseptic techniques and infection control protocols throughout the clinic.
- Utilize EMR systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft for efficient record management.
- Stay updated on dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and advancements in dental technology, including 3D scanners.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Dental Assistant or in a dental clinic setting is preferred.
- Proficiency in using EMR systems, particularly Dentrix or Eaglesoft; familiarity with Epic is a plus.
- Knowledge of medical coding, medical documentation, and medical records management is advantageous.
- Experience in pediatric dentistry is desirable but not mandatory; a passion for working with children is essential.
- Strong understanding of infection control practices and aseptic techniques within a clinical environment.
- Ability to perform chairside assisting effectively while maintaining patient comfort.
- Familiarity with various dental specialties such as prosthodontics, endodontics, and general dentistry is beneficial.
