Provide superior customer service and support to the Business Office. Maintain knowledge of current billing and follow up requirements. Ensure accurate and timely billing, collection, and posting of accounts. Provide training on billing, collections and posting. Maintain department policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
Support business office manager in monitoring and performing day-to day functions in the business office.
- Provide exceptional customer service
- Assist in addressing patient and department inquiries
- Assist staff with problem solving, complex accounts, and general questions as necessary
- Evaluate and recommend changes in methods and procedures
Perform assigned tasks as necessary within department.
- Provide coverage for staff vacations and fill in as needed
- Maintain knowledge of current billing practices and payer requirements
- Ability to bill claims accurately and timely
- Ability to perform collection tasks to obtain payment
- Ability to apply payments accurately
Train new staff and monitor staff compliance with procedural changes
- Assist in development of formal training program and ongoing maintenance of program
- Mentor and train new employees
- Provide ongoing training for existing staff including formal annual retraining
Qualifications
Education:
Minimum Education
- High School Diploma/GED
Preferred Education
- Vocational/technical training or Associate Degree
Experience:
Minimum Experience
- Two years billing/collection experience or equivalent. One year healthcare experience with third party payors
Preferred Experience
- Three years work experience in billing/collection or equivalent
- One to three years experience in medical industry.
