What are the responsibilities and job description for the Casual Speech Language Pathologist position at Fairview Health Services?
This position is for a Casual Speech Language Pathologist for M Health Fairview's outpatient general practice facility treating pediatric and adult patients. Work with a high functioning interdisciplinary team of OT, PT, and SLP. In collaboration with patients and families, the Speech Language Pathologist is responsible for providing safe and effective delivery of patient care within scope of practice. This includes examination, evaluation, diagnosis, planning, intervention and establishing outcomes.
- Casual SLP needed for both Acute Care (adults) and Outpatient setting (adult and pediatrics) to support volume need, vacations and sick call coverage Monday - Friday.
- Weekend on-call rotation for acute care patient population of general medical diagnoses.

Responsibilities Job Description
The SLP partners with the patient and their care providers while performing evaluation and re-evaluation. Captures and applies pertinent data, performs examination, and identifies treatment diagnosis
Develops an individualized plan of care through coordination
Analyzes data to identify needs and potential risks, settles prognosis for recovery, and establishes individualized goals
Implements and modifies care plan based on reassessment and patient response
Coordinates care and communicates effectively with interdisciplinary team for all aspects care & establishes appropriate discharge plan
Partners with patient and care team to provide skilled intervention
Implements and alters treatment to reflect change in patient status and response to treatment
Assesses patient and/or caregiver learning needs and provides appropriate education
Documentation/Billing
Uses acceptable medical terminology and follows professional practice standards.
Completes documentation in a timely manner per department standards
Stays in sync with department billing standards
Professional Expectations
Prioritizes tasks and patient care for effective time management.
Understands and follows professional licensure/certification requirements
Advises team members and/or supervises students as designated
Pursues professional development to support clinical standard processes
Quality Improvement
Crafting and implementing improvements, and participates in and supports entity/system initiatives. Adaptable in responding to demands of multiple processes and supervisor
Qualifications
Required
License/Certification/Registration
- Certification by ASHA and Speech Language Pathology license in the state of Minnesota
- Eligible for Temporary Minnesota License during Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY)
- Active Minnesota Basic Life Support certification
Preferred Experience
- 1 years of clinical speech practice
- Completion of CFY
