What are the responsibilities and job description for the Education Coordinator position at Fairview Health Services?
This hybrid position has a home location at UMMC West Bank Hospital. The Education Coordinator is a 1.0 FTE (80 hours/2 weeks), scheduled weekdays for 8 hour day shifts.
This position has responsibility for coordination of student clinical education activities at Fairview Health Services health system and works under the direction of the Education Manager. The education coordinator requires a solid understanding of academic hospital and outpatient clinic management to include, learner placement & onboarding, understanding of federal & state regulations specific to teaching institutions, hospital affiliations, accreditation and certification requirements for clinical learners. This position is the main liaison with internal and external stakeholders for their student groups.

Responsibilities Job Description
- Key contact for learners participating in the clinical education program within Fairview, including onboarding, orientation, training, and any ongoing and day-to-day needs.
- Assists with education-related process improvement projects, including clinical learning environment project management oversight.
- Coordinates clinical placement of learners
- Coordinates annual review of available placements within the system for assigned learner groups
- Assists education manager with data collection and reporting.
- Oversees Learner compliance.
- Liaison with schools – main contact for specific programs/MERC applicant Liaison with clinical sites
- Collaborates with Government reimbursement on learner data for reimbursement & reporting
- Responsible for learner work environment & collaborating with internal stakeholders to ensure a positive clinical learner experience
- Assists with federal and state regulatory/compliance requirements.
- Assists with clinical application requests
- Manages clinical learner information and preceptor information within the designated Learning Management system
- Works with key stakeholders to update their education materials and moves education modules to current system utilized for education modules.
- Actively collaborates with leaders of respective clinical areas
- Problem solves issue with instructors, mentors, program directors and students
- Provides back up coverage for other education coordinators
- Maintains & updates information on the education website
- Participates in weekly education huddles.
- Participates in education related projects
Qualifications
Required Education
- Bachelor’s degree
Required Experience
- 2 years of healthcare-related experience.
Preferred Education
- Master’s degree preferred
Preferred Experience
- 2-3 years working in a graduate medical education office or senior administrative level.
- Management in an equivalent joint commission accredited academic health care facility.
