What are the responsibilities and job description for the Exercise Physiologist position at Fairview Health Services?
Overview
Fairview Southdale Hospital serves the greater Twin Cities metro area. We're known for our award-winning heart, stroke and cancer care. We also provide on-site access to a variety of specialty services, from childbirth and pediatrics to orthopedics and surgery. We have been designated a Level III Trauma Center, which means our emergency support services are staffed 24-hours a day to help support the Southdale community if the need arises.
Responsibilities
- Monitor, assess and provide appropriate exercise interventions for inpatient/outpatient and exercise pharmacologic tests. Monitor physiological responses including:
- Heart rate
- Blood Pressure
- Electrocardiogram
- Respiratory rate
- Signs and symptoms
- Determine exercise/test termination and recovery time.
- Document appropriate subjective findings
- Provide care or service adjusting approaches to reflect developmental level and cultural differences of population served.
- Ability to perform technical procedures
- EKG's
- Holter monitor placement and scanning
- BP monitor placement
- Event monitor placement
- Collect, assess, and report data
- Prepare reports for physician interpretation with department software
- Properly document pertinent patient information
- Communicate with other healthcare providers as needed
- Medical emergency response and intervention
- Administer cardiac life support during medical emergencies
- Equipment troubleshooting
- Check equipment prior to testing to ensure proper operation of equipment
- Initiate service calls as necessary
- Orient and train department members
- Evaluate current knowledge levels
- Determine orientation and training needed and institute the plan
- Validate competency of trainee
- Assess and make recommendation to manager regarding competency of trainee
Qualifications
Minimum Education
- Bachelors Exercise Physiology or Exercise Science
Minimum License/Certification/Registration
- BLS
Preferred License/Certification/Registration
- American College of Sports Medicine Exercise Specialist Certification
- ACLS at time of hire or within six months of hire
Minimum Experience
- 0-2 years cardiac rehabilitation, stress testing or Holter monitoring experience
Preferred Experience
- 2 plus years of cardiac rehabilitation, stress testing or Holter monitoring experience

Vaccination Update

Current employees must have completed both vaccination schedules on or before October 31, 2021.Beginning August 9, 2021, any new hires who are not fully vaccinated against COVID-19 are required to receive their first dose prior to their start date and their second dose (if receiving Moderna or Pfizer vaccines) within 4 weeks of their start date.
