Overview
Orders and receives painting supplies, handle questions or concerns regarding wall finishing products, prepares surfaces and properly applies coatings of paint or other wall coatings. Other miscellaneous duties as assigned by supervisors, managers pf Environmental Services.
Responsibilities/Job Description
- Reports defective or inoperative equipment unsafe conditions, repairs needed, damages, lost and found, patient items left behind according to departmental and hospital procedures.
- Reports rooms that need to be thoroughly cleaned and/or stripped or refinished. Fills out incident reports as needed.
- Attends all required in services and staff meetings.
- Demonstrates respect and support of one another for the overall welfare of the unit.
- Duties: performs assigned daily duties and other duties as assigned.
Communicates appropriate information with others according to established procedures so that day-to-day operations are effectively conducted.
- Interacts, as needed, with co-workers in a respectful and cooperative way by communicating directly and by following proper channels of communication.
- Prepares surfaces to receive paint coatings to ensure proper acceptance of coat of paint.
- Removes all loose, peeling, flaking material and dust prior to applying coatings of paint to ensure proper bonding to surface.
- Ensures all surfaces are prepared to smoothness with cracks and/or holes filled to obtain the desired result.
- Ensures all surfaces are sufficiently dry to receive new coatings.
- Paints wood, metal, plaster and other surfaces with brushes, rollers or spray equipment to provide protection and aesthetically pleasing appearance.
- Applies paint properly to leave coatings with a smooth finish, evenly applied with no streaking runs, or thin spots to obtain the desired result.
- Ensures surface not receiving a new coating is protected from spillage, splatters, drips, carelessness and over spray to maintain other surfaces appearance.
- Applies coatings of flat surfaces, covering 300 square feet per hour under normal work conditions.
- Prepares sheetrock walls by taping and floating all joints, edged and mail holes to provide a clean smooth and solid wall for application of coatings.
- Applies sheetrock tape and mud at a rate to prepare 100 linear feet per hour under normal work conditions.
- Demonstrates ability to provide care or service adjusting approaches to reflect developmental level and cultural differences of population served
Completes all initial and annual required learning relevant to the role.
- Complies with all relevant laws, regulations, and policies.
- Contributes to a safe work environment.
- Considerable physical effort required, walking, climbing, standing, lifting, bending, stooping, pushing and pulling.
Qualifications
REQUIRED:
- Five or more years of experience in a commercial setting or 5 plus years as a journeyman in a commercial setting

- Vocational Training Course for Painting Wall covering
