What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Assurance Supervisor position at Falcon Plastics?

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

Develops and initiates standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation by interpreting engineering drawings, schematic diagrams, or formulas and confers with management or engineering staff.

Reads and understands part prints to develop inspection criteria, methods, SPC charts, and records.

Devises sampling procedures, designs and develops forms and instructions for recording, evaluating, and reporting quality and reliability data.

Develops detailed operation and inspection documentation for new tools and secondary operations.

Establishes programs to evaluate precision and accuracy of production equipment and testing, measurement and analytical equipment and facilities.

Assists in the calibration and data entry of inspection devices or tools.

Identifies isolates, develops and implements methods and procedures for disposition of defect product, and devises methods to assess cost and responsibility.

Assists in the training and direction of workers engaged in measuring and testing product and tabulating data concerning materials, product or process quality and reliability.

Interacts with Customer Service, Engineering, Production Personnel, Customers or Vendors to coordinate and resolve quality-related problems.

Provides computerized status report(s) describing progress and concerns related to inspection activities, nonconforming items, and/or other items related to the quality of the process, material or product.

Compiles and writes training material and conducts training sessions on quality control activities.

Maintains a working knowledge of the latest codes and new developments in testing and examination methods of processes, materials, and products.

Analyzes defective parts to determine reasons for dimensional variations such as faulty machining or assembly procedures, setup, tools, or fixtures. Partner with production personnel to resolve defective issues.

Selects products for test at specified stages in the production process, and tests products for variety of qualities such as dimension, performance, mechanical, or chemical characteristics based off Inspection Plans and Piece Part Sample Standards to assure conformance with written standards and specifications.

Sets up and performs destructive and nondestructive tests on materials, parts, or products to measure performance, life or material characteristics.

Records test data, applying statistical quality control procedures and communicates results to appropriate individuals to assure process control of molded and assembled parts.

Occasionally work outside of regular schedule and overtime hours; with minimal advance notice at times.

Directly supervises Quality Assurance employees, designs and/or implements ongoing training and career development of QA employees.

Maintains consistent document control of part files and books.

Provides clarification of specifications, and standards, using references such as application of Society of Plastics Industry Cosmetic Standard.

Provides training for application of the SPI quality standard and specified work instructions, rework methods, and inspection methods.

Provides ongoing support in use of SPC procedures.

Initiates the Non-Conforming Product Review (NPR) process as necessary to determine if the product meets customer requirements. Dispositions NPRs, consulting with immediate supervisor as necessary, and provides rework/sort instructions as needed.

Audits product, labels, work stations, and quality system procedures.

Assists Shipping in verifying shipments and when needed, correcting, any product for shipment.

Reviews product returned by customer to confirm deviation from requirements. Dispositions returns and notifies Scheduling/Production of results.

Develops and assures the maintenance of a part sample library.

Supports Archiving activities associated with Last Time Buys.

Works collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of cooperation.

Displays excellent communication skills including presentation, persuasion, and negotiation skills required in working with coworkers and including the ability to communicate effectively and remain calm and courteous under pressure.

Engaged and actively looking for opportunities to improve our processes, procedures, communication, culture, etc. Shares ideas consistently with Supervisor and/or Management.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has supervisory responsibility for all Quality Auditors.

Education and/or Experience: Two years post-secondary education and two years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Training Requirements: Successful completion of the following training is required:

New Employee Orientation, 90 Day Orientation, Position Specific Training Checklist

Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram from. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Software Knowledge: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic computer skills to include the ability to retain confidential user and login information, communicate via email, enter database information, download information and preserve important data. Development of proficiency in our ERP system (IQMS) and Microsoft office products is required.

Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Refer employees to the Employee Assistance Program when appropriate.

Education and/or Experience:
One or two year certificate from college or technical school AND 2 years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $38,283.55 - $46,104.92 per year
