What are the responsibilities and job description for the Litigation Associate position at Falkenberg Ives LLP?
Chicago commercial and healthcare litigation boutique seeks associate or of counsel with at least two years of litigation experience to join our team. Healthcare experience desirable but not mandatory. We are willing to consider part-time or flexible schedules on an hourly basis as well.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct legal research and analysis on various litigation matters
- Draft legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and briefs
- Assist with case management, including organizing and maintaining case files
- Prepare for and participate in hearings, depositions, and trials
- Collaborate with senior attorneys to develop case strategies
- Negotiate settlements and draft settlement agreements
- Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel
- Stay updated on relevant laws and regulations in the field of litigation
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school
- Admission to the Illinois bar
- Strong knowledge of legal principles and procedures related to litigation
- Proficiency in legal research tools such as Westlaw and Lexis-Nexis
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in conducting legal administrative tasks
- Familiarity with legal drafting techniques
- Ability to write clear and concise legal documents
