What are the responsibilities and job description for the Home Provider position at Families First?
The mission of Families First is to provide person-centered support for youth and adults living with disabilities. Our services promote independent living skills, enhance self-esteem, and cultivate community membership through caring and respectful relationships.
Families First is seeking a Home Provider for some of our adult self-advocates. Comfort with personal care assistance (bathing, wiping, medication administration) and providing behavioral support is strongly recommended. A Home Provider will offer this advocate a place to live and support them with daily tasks. The Home Provider should have an awareness or training in trauma informed care. The Home Provider should be located in the state of Vermont, within 45 minutes of Brattleboro.
The ideal candidate should be compassionate, patient, and creative. They should be able to set limits and work in a team setting. Applications for this position will be sent to case managers actively seeking Home Providers. Background checks are required.
This is a contracted, tax exempt position. There are no benefits included. Pay is based off needs based funding for the advocate. Home Providers also receive funding to hire respite if they wish for it.
Requirements:
- An extra/spare bedroom with a lockable door for privacy
- Availability to provide support to the self-advocate on evenings and weekends
- A valid driver’s license and car insurance
- A home inspection: checks for fire extinguishers, fire alarms, a means of egress, and other safety considerations.
