Position Description:
Accountant
General Description of Duties and Responsibilities:
The Accountant works as part of the Finance team to assist with financial operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Records debit and credit transactions in the general ledger;
- Reconciles daily cash transactions to bank accounts;
- Performs daily cash balance verifications for bank accounts;
- Performs research to ensure that insurance payments, daily deposits, and related transactions are complete and accurate and enters financial transactions into the financial reporting system;
- Verifies petty cash and daily deposits and performs routine internal inspections to ensure that all cash is accounted for pertinent to each FHC clinic location;
- Monitors outstanding accounts payable balances against daily cash balances;
- Assists with preparation of grant reimbursement requests;
- Attends meetings and other functions, as required to assist the CFO;
- Performs any other duties necessary to carry out the functions of the Finance Department and to support the operations of FHC.
Reporting Relationship:
The Accountant reports to, is supervised by, and evaluated by the Chief Financial Officer.
Evaluation:
The evaluation of work performance will be ongoing and will be carried out by the Chief Financial Officer. It will include the specific duties and responsibilities of this position, plus employee attitude and general working behavior. Formal evaluation will normally be performed annually, but may be initiated at other times by the Chief Financial Officer and/or Chief Executive Officer.
Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, or a related discipline with at least one year of experience working in a financial and/or accounting related profession;
- Possesses effective communication skills and the ability to work well with others;
- Must maintain confidentiality;
- Must be able to competently use software applications (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint);
- Follows instructions of the CFO to complete daily tasks, as assigned; and
- Has demonstrated competency utilizing accounting software.

Salary:
The salary for this position is determined by the Chief Executive Officer in accordance with FHC's policies and procedures adopted by the Board of Directors, and with consideration for the unique qualifications of the candidate.
