What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mental Health Support Worker position at Family Service Madison?

Family Service Madison seeks a Part-Time Mental Health Support Worker in the Steps to Success Intensive Day Treatment Program.
Position: minimum 20 hours a week M-F 12-4. flexibility for this position to be up to 28 hours weekly
Description:
  • Working in a team model, this position provides group facilitation, school/family contacts and 1:1 youth support to children experiencing emotional and behavioral challenges.
  • Responsible for facilitation of Experiential Education (group therapy) activities for the daily STS groups. Responsible for working with the STS Mental Health Professionals, Support Workers, and Technicians for planning activities for the program. Responsible for individual counseling with clients, under the supervision of a Mental Health Professional.
  • Providing support services for youth enrolled in the program: Reducing or eliminating the use of emergency safety interventions. Teaching and increasing positive replacement behaviors. Building relationships between youth and staff members that promote trust and safety. Empowering youth to take responsibility for their behavior and regulating their emotions.
Requirements: Bachelor's or Master's degree in the fields of psychology, counseling, marriage and family therapy, social work, or closely related fields. Minimum of one year experience or formal education related to working with youth who have severe emotion disturbance or mental illness.
Hours: 20-28 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Must be present between the hours of 12-4pm each day
Eligible candidates must pass a Wisconsin caregiver background check and criminal history screening.

Salary range is based on qualifications and experience.
