What are the responsibilities and job description for the School Based Caseworker position at Family Services of Chemung County, Inc?
Job Description: The individual hired for this Caseworker position will provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 interventions for elementary school students in the ECSD. This full-time position is funded through a contract with the ECSD that is renewed on a yearly basis.
The Caseworker collaborates with teachers, administrators, and other school specialists to remove barriers to students’ learning and address issues affecting their social, emotional, and mental health and well-being, both in and out of the school environment. The Caseworker will be located at a designated school site to increase collaborative opportunities with district staff and familiarity and rapport with students and families.
The individual hired for this position provides supportive, social, emotional, and mental health-focused services to children and their families. They will provide person-centered, strength-based, trauma-informed, and recovery-oriented services in a caring and compassionate manner supporting individuals through a holistic approach to their social, emotional, and mental health and well-being within the school environment, at home, and in the community.
Requirements: Applicants are expected to possess a current NYS licensure as an RN, LMSW, LMHC, LCSW, or LMFT with at least one year of experience in a school-based or behavioral health care setting. A licensable Master’s Degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, Psychology or a related mental health discipline is preferred, although Bachelor’s Degree-prepared individuals may be considered. New graduates in need of an additional limited permit placement for licensure may also be considered.
