The mission of Family Support Services is to be the leader in providing safety, stability, and quality of life for all children by working with the community to strengthen the family unit.

Job Summary

This is a direct services position will be responsible for supporting Child Protective Investigators (CPI) and Case Managers (CM) by working collaboratively with staff to locate, engage and recommend safe placement of children with relatives and non-relatives. The position will support CPIs and CMs in family finding efforts by identifying all possible connections of the child and engaging youth and families in the homestudy and background screening process. The position must have a strong value and belief system that children do best when placed with kin, which minimizes trauma for the child (ren) being removed from their home and enhances child well-being.

Essential Job Duties

  • Conduct case reviews, internet searches and interviews with kin and children to identify potential connections to the child (ren) and family to support work of Child Protective Investigator (CPI) and Case Manager (CM) in placing children with kin. This includes follow-up of all individuals that have expressed interest in the child, and/or have had a positive relationship with the child.
  • Conduct Home Studies and background screens on all potential kin placements and follow up with CPI and CM on results
  • Assist caregivers with completing licensing documentation as applicable, accessing training modules and ensuring completion of required training.

 

  • Create innovative ways to increase family finding efforts among staff and across agency (technology, training, genograms)
  • Research current and incoming children placed in licensed homes to find leads to relatives and nonrelatives for placement exploration and/or social connections.
  • Pass along known information to assigned CPI and/or CM and supervisor and conduct follow-up activities as needed. Maintain accurate and complete documentation for each assigned case.
  • Conduct supportive efforts, to include home visits, to salvage failing and distressed placements.
  • Document all family finding efforts for each case and track success.
  • Attend agency events, trainings, conferences as needed after hours or on the weekends.
  • All other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Active Child welfare certification or eligible for certification.
  • Two years of responsible experience working with relative and non-relative caregivers and/or working with High Risk children and families, preferably within the dependency or economic self-sufficiency programs.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Schedule & Hours

Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:00pm (Hybrid schedule post probationary period-90 days)
