The Faulk Center for Counseling, a nonprofit mental health organization, has served the South Florida community since 1973. Through a unique model that combines licensed professionals with supervised graduate student clinicians, the Center delivers affordable, high-quality mental health services for children, teens, adults, and seniors.

Position Overview

The Deputy Director plays a crucial leadership role in supporting the organization’s mission and advancing its strategic goals. This position oversees daily operations, drives internal efficiencies, and ensures effective management of administrative, financial, HR, and compliance functions. The Deputy Director also serves as the primary lead for outreach and fundraising events, including our annual Jukebox Bingo fundraiser, annual Butterfly Release, Trunk or Treat, and others, and acts in the CEO’s stead when needed.

The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in operations and team leadership, with direct experience managing events from start to finish. This is a hands-on position with high-level responsibility and visibility across the organization. The Deputy Director is expected to be a strategic thought partner to the CEO, contributing to planning, execution, and long-term sustainability efforts.

Key Responsibilities

Operations & Administration

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the Center, ensuring smooth functioning across departments
  • Supervise and support administrative staff (front desk receptionist and billing administrator)
  • Process payroll and coordinate financials and reporting with the CEO and external accountant
  • Manage vendor relationships, service contracts, and invoice tracking
  • Maintain HR documentation, employee records, and training logs in accordance with internal policies and accreditation standards
  • Draft, revise, and enforce organizational policies and procedures
  • Ensure compliance with accreditation requirements (e.g., Nonprofits First) and assist with audits and reporting
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices for organizational efficiency

Event Leadership

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute outreach and fundraising events (e.g., Jukebox Bingo, Butterfly Release, Trunk or Treat)
  • Manage all event logistics, including budgeting, promotion, permitting, vendor coordination, volunteer oversight, setup, and evaluation
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for event-related stakeholders
  • Provide limited support to the CEO on donor stewardship and fundraising-related administrative needs

Strategic & Executive Leadership

  • Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and implement strategic plans that align with organizational goals
  • Track and report performance metrics, operational objectives, and project outcomes
  • Actively contribute ideas and recommendations to support continuous improvement and long-term sustainability
  • Serve in the CEO’s stead during periods of absence, representing leadership in internal and external matters
  • Participate in senior team meetings and decision-making processes affecting Center-wide operations

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s in nonprofit management, business administration, public administration, or a related field preferred
  • Minimum 3–5 years of progressive experience in nonprofit operations, administration, or project management
  • Demonstrated experience planning and executing public-facing events from start to finish is required
  • Experience with HR, payroll, vendor management, and budgeting
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and project management skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HR/payroll platforms
  • Experience working in or supporting mental health, social services, or education nonprofits is a plus
  • A commitment to fostering a collaborative, inclusive workplace culture

Work Schedule & Compensation

This is a full-time, exempt position based at our Boca Raton office. While the role is primarily in-person, limited remote flexibility may be negotiated after a successful onboarding and performance period.

Salary Range: $68,000 – $76,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
