Federated Hermes is seeking a Senior Accountant at our Pittsburgh headquarters to interact with personnel across the organization to participate in the preparation and filing of Corporate Financial reporting.
What you can expect:
- Analyze complex general ledger accounts detailing major items and significant variances for review at management meetings and for year-end audits.
- Reconcile and monitor complex balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis.
- Code and enter various accounting entries into the accounting system. Ensure through research and discussions with management that the proper accounting treatment is being applied.
- Research relevant GAAP, SEC, and FINRA reporting requirements.
- Liaison directly with external auditors on various audits.
- Complete quarterly regulatory filings and annual financial statements.
- Independently research regulatory/reporting requirements.
- Evaluate operating methods and procedures on a continual basis and make recommendations for improved efficiency.
- Maintain up-to-date written procedures for all assigned responsibilities in accordance with SOX 404.
- Analyze assigned subsidiary account activity and balances on the subsidiary financial statements.
- Prepare assigned subsidiary stand-alone financial statements.
- Assist with special projects as assigned.
What we’re looking for:
- Bachelor degree in Accounting required. Completion of or progress toward passing the CPA exam preferred
- Minimum of 3 years of accounting/financial reporting experience in a public company or a minimum of 2 years public accounting experience required
- Proficiency in Word and Excel required; knowledge of Oracle Financials preferred
- Strong analytical and accounting skills required
