What are the responsibilities and job description for the Training Specialist position at Feed My Starving Children?
Your Role:
Develop, select, implement, conduct and assess training specific to the volunteer engagement experience for manufacturing staff at Feed My Starving Children (FMSC). Collaborate with Marketing, Development and International Programs teams to ensure proper messaging. Design curriculum, conduct trainings, present content and assess effectiveness.
Pay, Schedule & Benefits:
- This is a full-time, exempt (salaried) position. Typical work schedule is Monday-Friday during daytime business hours. Approximately 10% expenses-paid domestic travel is required.

What You’ll Do:
- Assess training and development needs. Conduct surveys, interviews and focus groups. Align training plans with overall organizational goals. Collaborate with Manufacturing management and project teams.
- Research, gather, write and edit training content. Create slide decks, scripts, and assessments. Trainings topics include nutrition, FMSC partner relationships and food distribution, public speaking, and motivational best practices.
- Create training schedule, write and plan communications, create timelines, track completion, and follow-up assessments with employees and supervisors.
- Record screen capture video with voiceover, edit video files, and publish to training content database.
- Act as an administrator of the training management system. Set up and train other admins. Organize content.
- Evaluate training effectiveness and implement improvements.
- Conduct trainings virtually, in-person, and/or by recording training content.
- Partner with the VP of Manufacturing to review learnings and develop additional training strategies. Maintain knowledge of the latest trends in public speaking and adult learning practices.
- Perform administrative tasks such as scheduling meetings, tracking attendance, and organizing data.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Your Qualifications:
- Commitment to support, promote and authentically communicate FMSC’s Christian mission and goals.
- Minimum of bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Training and Development or related field and 3 years of experience required. In lieu of degree, equivalent proven work experience as a public/motivational speaker or trainer will be considered.
- Experience with creating and recording trainings is preferred.
- Exceptional listening, verbal, presenting and written communication skills.
- Approachable and collaborative. Able to build both internal and external relationships.
- Excellent planning and organizational skills with a high degree of detail, accuracy and follow-up. Able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite is required, especially PowerPoint. Experience with Zoom and Sharepoint preferred.
- Working knowledge and skill in adult instructional design, delivery and follow-up assessment.
Your Team:
- MN (Chanhassen, Coon Rapids, Eagan), IL (Aurora, Libertyville, Schaumburg), AZ (Mesa) or TX (Richardson). Position will have flexible/hybrid work schedule that allows for both office and remote work, though some locations may be fully remote dependent on space availability.

Salary : $51,300 - $64,900
