Job Summary

School-Linked Mental Health Therapists working in the school, home and community provide diagnostic assessments, therapeutic, and skills services to children, adults, and families. Clinical Trainees work with clients with mental health concerns to improve basic functioning under the license of a qualified mental health professional. Clinical Trainees will engage clients in direct services and participate in clinical supervision to complete licensure requirements.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities

School-Linked Mental Health Therapists are not responsible for the supervision of other employees. They are expected to coordinate services with other Fernbrook employees who share similar clients on their caseload.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide psychotherapy and/or skills services to children, adults, and families
  • Conduct diagnostic assessments to determine eligibility for services
  • Complete all documentation according to content and quality standards
  • Collaborate and consult with outside providers
  • Actively seek out supervisory consultation and direction as needed
  • Complete mandatory trainings for skill maintenance or enhancement
  • Regularly attend and engage in a way that meets your needs in staff meetings.
  • Regularly attend and actively engage in individual and/or group CT supervision, in accordance with the clinical supervision plan if applicable
  • Complete 30 hours of continuing education related to mental health every two years and any additional hours required by licensing board
  • Communicate and reflect Fernbrook Family Center’s mission internally and externally
  • Comply with agency policies and procedures
  • Meet productivity standards in regards to client-contact and each week attend mandatory program meetings, attend CT/licensure supervision if applicable, complete all paperwork, and travel between client sessions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands

  • Prolonged periods sitting, listening, and observing or working on a computer.
  • Physical health and stamina to work on a consistent basis with children and adults who have varying needs.
  • Occasional situations may occur where staff need to be able to lift up to 15 pounds.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

  • Expected hours of work are flexible and generally occur between 7:00am – 7:00pm.
  • Expected to travel to and from a client’s home, community settings, Fernbrook offices, and other locations 
  • Salary staff are required to work 40-43 hours per week, however hours may be outside of this range in order to complete projects and responsibilities to meet client needs.
  • Hourly staff are able to work up to 40 hours per week. Hours over 40 will need to be preapproved for overtime by supervisor.

Education and Experience

  • Positions that require community based client contact must have reliable transportation, a valid driver's license, valid automobile insurance, and acceptable driving record.
  • Must pass criminal background check based on agency and Department of Human Services requirements
  • Possess a Master’s Degree or be a current student who is in a field placement with the agency working to qualify for one of the following license types: LICSW, LPCC, LMFT, or LP.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Experience working with children, adults, and families
  • Bilingual 
  • Master’s Degree with one of the following license types: LICSW, LPCC, LMFT, or LP.
