Job Summary:
Ferrara Fire Apparatus/KME has an opening for a business unit Controller. The Controller has primary responsibility for the business unit's financial-related activities: including accounting practices, fiscal records, and preparation of its financial statements and related reports. The incumbent has overall responsibility for general accounting, internal and external audit coordination, cost accounting systems and information, and budget preparation and control. This role is a strategic partner to the Vice President/General Manager of the business unit and is responsible for appraising operating results in terms of costs, budgets, policies of operations, trends and increased profitability. This role reports to the Division Controller and is responsible for leading an onsite team.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manages financial close, forecast, and budget process in a timely and accurate manner.
- Performs ad hoc analysis, including cost studies and margin analysis and providesrecommendations to strategically enhance performance and business opportunities.
- Provides innovative thought leadership on strategies to grow market share, increase profitability, and meet long-term business goals to all functional partners.
- Ensures that effective internal controls are in place and ensures compliance with GAAP and applicable federal, state and local regulatory laws.
- Partners with business unit VP/GM to ensure product is scheduled in the most efficient manner to insure the on-time delivery of our products to the customer and attainment of the financial plan.
- Manages accounts receivable and coordinates with sales on payments & locations.
- Manages accounts payable and coordinates payments and payment terms in conjunction with supply chain management.
- Monitors inventory and working capital; advises management on actions needed to manage or reduce accordingly.
- Develops proposals for capital expenditures and develops projections and meets budget requirements for all manufacturing operations.
- Implements performance measures, policies and programs.
- Directs/develops financial staff by training, coaching, and managing employee performance to drive a high performing finance team.
- Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.
Qualifications:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and PowerPoint
- Prior ERP experience; Great Plains Software Package preferred
- Self-starter; Ability to drive work schedule and results without micromanagement
- Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence all levels of the organization
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to be focused on the details
- Demonstrates an ability to lead people and get results through others
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance/Accounting;Master's Degree and/or CPA preferred
- Five (5) years in an accounting/finance leadership role with proficiency in a manufacturing environment
- Strong Cost Accounting or financial accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
- Prior experience in budgeting and forecasting
