As a Veterinary Technician in our Internal Medicine department, you will work closely with our team of experienced veterinarians and technicians to provide comprehensive medical care to pets with a variety of complex internal medicine conditions.
Responsibilities:- Assist veterinarians in all aspects of patient care, including handling, restraint, and administration of medications
- Obtain thorough patient history
- Perform diagnostic tests and procedures, including blood work, urinalysis, radiography, and ultrasonography
- Assist with specialized procedures such as endoscopy, colonoscopy, rhinoscopy, bronchoscopy and Computed Tomography
- Administer treatments and medications as prescribed by veterinarians
- Monitor and document patient responses to treatment
- Maintain accurate and organized medical records
- Provide compassionate and informative communication and education to pet owners
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Certification as a veterinary technician preferred
- Previous experience working in Internal Medicine highly preferred
- Strong knowledge of veterinary procedures, techniques, and complex disease processes
- Proficiency in anesthetic administration and monitoring
- Adept in medical math calculations including oral medication, injectable medication, fluid rates and CRI calculations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to handle and restrain animals of various sizes and temperaments
- Demonstrated ability to work well in a team setting
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Flexibility to work weekends and holidays as needed
