Controller:
Our New Car Dealership in Morris County has had 8 Controllers since 1965. Our current Controller is looking to retire, and we have this rare opening for someone special. Our valued Controller is the Owner's/GM right hand in everything we do. There are no secrets here. In addition to providing sales and expense analyses for all departments, you must accurately record/represent the financial condition of the dealership, maintain all controls necessary for the proper conduct of the business, and make accurate records. Our Controller is always well respected and oversees our Accounting Dept of 3 individuals who do a fantastic job but are not ready for this next step.
Our Controller is responsible for the entire accounting function and financial reporting for our dealership. You will also need to work closely with management and other departments to help ensure harmonious and productive operations which will help maximize and continue the success of the dealerships. You will also be expected to help develop and motivate our accounting associates to ensure that detail, accuracy and timing are never compromised for any reason.
Other responsibilities:
· Prepare/complete financial statements and submit to the manufacturer and management in accordance with established timeframes
· Interpret, record and analyze all business activity
· Keep the General Manager informed about everything (he will be your best friend) and monitor the cash flow needs of the business
· Maintain and improve all processes/procedures for accounting
· Manage the day-to-day accounting operations of the store to ensure that all transactions are recorded in compliance with dealership accounting processes and policies
· Review all schedules and bank rec's accurately each month on a timely basis
· Prepare and submit required statements and reports
· Manage and safeguard the stores assets and ensure that internal controls are in place
· Assist department managers as needed to improve their operations and areas of opportunities
Requirements
· College Degree with Accounting background
· Several years of Accounting experience in a New Car dealership, prior Controller experience preferred but not required
· Strong working knowledge of all Dealership from Warranty to Receivables to Schedules to Bank Rec's
· Experience with CDK is important
