Duties include, but are not limited to, the following: • Installs, configures, patches, and upgrades system applications;• Supports the installation of new systems and maintenance of existing systems while working closely with systems infrastructure staff (Windows and Linux), Database Administration, and Network staff;• Installs, configures, and supports server-side applications working with MS SQL and Oracle databases;• Monitors system performance of commercial applications;• Troubleshoots applications, performance issues, and network;• Assists with Microsoft Server operating system application configuration and tuning;• Assists with Redhat Linux operating system application configuration and tuning;• Interfaces with Active Directory with new applications, requesting new accounts, and assist with group membership / security; and• Provides business hours and off hours technical support for critical systems..

The NY HELPS Program allows agencies to fill certain positions via permanent non-competitive appointments.
