Senior Principal Consultant (L6) – Finance & Data Analytics | PG&E

About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Principal Consultant (L6) to join a high-impact finance and analytics team at PG&E in Oakland, CA. This hybrid role requires strong financial forecasting, advanced analytics, and deep knowledge of PG&E’s internal financial structures and systems. You will play a key role in driving strategic initiatives and delivering actionable insights to senior leadership.
Top Requirements (Must-Have):
- Minimum 4 years recent PG&E experience – preferably within the Finance Department or Business Finance
- Deep understanding of PG&E financial systems – NEIE/EIE, capital cost categorizations, cost data sources
- Strong background in financial forecasting and advanced analytics
- Technical skills in SAP, SQL, Power BI, Python
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate enterprise performance and deliver data-driven insights to drive strategic decision-making
- Design and lead complex financial and statistical analyses
- Leverage and/or build financial models to support reporting and planning
- Present recommendations to senior leaders (SVP/EVP level)
- Lead cross-functional projects and special initiatives
- Develop KPIs and metrics to track financial and operational performance
- Enrich internal data sets with external/public sources
- Use visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau) to communicate insights
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field
- Minimum 6 years of experience in financial, analytical, or consulting roles
- 4 years of recent PG&E experience, with in-depth knowledge of PG&E financial processes
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) or related
- 8 years total job-related experience
- Experience in utility industry, management consulting, or investment banking
- CPA certification
- Expertise in Python/SAS for predictive modeling
- Strong presentation skills and ability to influence senior stakeholders
- Creative problem-solving mindset with attention to simplicity and clarity
Additional Information:
- This is a hybrid contract role, requiring 2–3 days/week onsite at PG&E’s Oakland office
- A PG&E-issued laptop will be provided
- Only candidates currently residing in the Bay Area will be considered
