Position Overview
As a Construction Estimator, you will be required to develop scope of work (SoWS) and estimates. This position will be expected to collaborate with project managers, the sales team and clients. This position is encouraged to provide innovative and alternative proposals. There also may be opportunities to manage smaller projects.
Requirements
- Experience in construction estimating, ideally with a background in General Contracting at scale.
- Ability to manage project finances and provide timely updates.
- Experience or familiarity with estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, ProEst, Xactimate, or similar).
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Skilled in detailed quantity take-offs and cost analysis.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, manufacturer cutsheets, and technical specifications.
- In-depth knowledge of construction processes in at least one field.
- Analytical skills for risk assessment and alternative scope recommendations.
- Collaborative approach with project managers to ensure project success.
- Flexibility to work independently and as part of a team, adapting to project needs.
- Experience as a foreman, project manager, or in self-employment is a plus.
- A positive attitude.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office with the ability to adapt and/or learn new software platforms, as needed.
- Ability to obtain required training and certifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately estimate costs for construction projects from initial concept to completion.
- Prepare and submit competitive bids and proposals for construction projects.
- Project analysis to identify potential risks and opportunities associated with the project.
- Communicate effectively with clients, providing detailed explanation of cost estimates and addressing any questions or concerns.
- Maintain organized records of all estimates, bids, and related documentation.
- Prepare detailed reports and presentations for management and clients.
