Position Summary
The position of Mortgage Loan Processor is responsible for reviewing and verifying loan applications to ensure all necessary requirements and guidelines have been followed. Professionals in this role work with the underwriters, loan officers, and borrowers to collect all relevant documentation and information.
The position requires the candidate to work in the office, remote work is not available.
Essential Duties
- Act as a liaison between loan officers, real estate agents, and underwriters to facilitate loan closing.
- Order property and loan documentation such as appraisals, inspections, title searches, surveys, and property tax records.
- Send out verifications for specific information on the mortgage loan application, i.e., credit report, verification of income, verification of deposit, verification of employment, Loan Estimates, and corrections.
- Maintain detailed documentation of the process in our system from origination to close.
- Expedite the of gathering information by following up on those verifications that are delayed.
- Answer telephone calls from customers, Brand Managers, Real Estate Agents and loan originators concerning the status of loan applications.
- Ensure loan files meet lending and regulatory guidelines and policies.
- Prepare and submit detailed loan packages to underwriter for approval or denial.
- Prepare the appropriate loan disclosures based on loan program.
- Analyze credit histories, income documentation and bank statements to determine borrowers ability to qualify for loan programs.
- Ensure all deadlines for information submissions, underwriting decisions and closings are met.
- Attend meetings and training as may be necessary or required to obtain information on new processing policies and procedures and pipeline review.
- Multitask to keep track of multiple loan applicants information at one time.
- Maintain knowledge of guidelines for FNMA/FHLMC, FHA, VA, USDA and down payment assistance programs.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
3 years mortgage processing experience and knowledge of Encompass is preferred.
Knowledge of personal computers and data processing systems associated with mortgage operations is required.
Knowledge of automation principles and current software/hardware applications is essential.
Advanced computer skills including Internet operations are highly desirable.
This job requires the ability to meet established deadlines, work productively in groups and individually, communicate effectively in writing and orally, operate standard office equipment, work extended hours occasionally, and travel to various bank locations and training activities as needed.
