What are the responsibilities and job description for the Church Office & Facilities Manager position at First Congregational Church of Alameda?
The Office & Facilities Manager (OFM) at the First Congregational Church of Alameda, United Church of Christ, serves as the hub of church operations. The OFM provides administrative and ministry support to the minister, staff, and lay leaders; serves as the primary liaison to the church’s tenants; communicates with the congregation; supervises the church custodian; oversees facilities maintenance, repairs, and rental; maintains and grows the church’s online presence; and performs any other duties assigned by the pastor.
As OFM, you will often be people’s first contact with the church. It is important to maintain a professional demeanor of kindness reflecting church values.
This jack-of-all-trades position requires 3-5 years of administrative experience along with excellent communication and prioritization skills. You should have incoming familiarity with a variety of software:
- Google Workplace apps
- Microsoft Word
- Microsoft Excel
- Database entry and maintenance
- Social media (Facebook, Instagram, etc.)
- Canva-like layout software
- Graphics/photo-editing software
- Willingness to be trained on WordPress for website editing
- Willingness to learn Constant Contact, SignUpGenius, Survey Monkey
The 40-hour workweek consists of a nontraditional schedule, including Sunday mornings, the second Tuesday evening of each month, and some church holidays. Some flexibility in work schedule and telecommuting is negotiable. Access to a car for office-related errands is preferable. This position involves lifting as much as 20 lbs.
