Position Summary

The Senior Lending Systems and Automation Engineer provides senior-level backup administration and operational support for the bank’s lending platforms, including Abrigo Sageworks, LaserPro, and ancillary lending systems. This role also serves as a hands-on builder for the AI & Automation backlog by designing and delivering RPA bots and automated workflows (including workflow buildout within Abrigo). The position partners closely with the Director of AI & Automation and provides mentoring and technical review for two interns to enable a scalable automation factory with strong controls, documentation, and change discipline.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Serves as secondary (backup) administrator for Abrigo Sageworks, LaserPro, and ancillary lending applications, including configuration, security roles, user administration, troubleshooting, upgrades, and vendor coordination.
  • Supports lending operations, credit, and loan administration by resolving application issues, coordinating escalations, and ensuring stable system performance and availability.
  • Builds and maintains RPA bots and workflow automations that reduce manual effort, improve cycle time, and increase consistency across business processes.
  • Designs and implements automated workflows within Abrigo, including fully automated lending workflows aligned to business requirements and compliance needs.
  • Performs business analysis to identify automation opportunities, document current and future state process flows, define requirements, and establish acceptance criteria.
  • Provides advanced use-case development, technical mentoring, and quality review for intern-delivered work products (requirements, flows, bots, testing evidence, and documentation).
  • Coordinates day-to-day execution with interns and the Director of AI & Automation, including task breakdown, prioritization support, and readiness for deployment.
  • Follows proper change management policies and procedures for all changes, including ticketing, approvals, testing, release notes, and documentation updates.
  • Documents configurations, workflows, procedures, and operational runbooks; updates playbooks as environments and processes change.
  • Supports audit and exam readiness by maintaining evidence for access, changes, controls, and system administration activities.
  • Occasional after-hours support for maintenance windows, deployments, and production-impacting incidents.
  • Adheres to the BSA Policy and all other Bank Policies.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills)

  • 5 years’ experience in financial services technology or banking operations support.
  • Demonstrated experience administering business-critical applications, including security roles, configuration, vendor management, troubleshooting, and upgrade support.
  • Experience delivering automations (RPA and workflow automation) in an enterprise environment with disciplined SDLC or change control.
  • Strong business analysis skills with the ability to translate needs into clear requirements, process maps, and acceptance criteria.
  • Strong interpersonal skills: ability to develop peer-like relationships with senior leaders and business stakeholders.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and autonomously; strong ownership and follow-through.
  • Focused attention to detail plus ability to see the big picture.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct experience with Abrigo Sageworks and/or LaserPro administration.
  • Experience building automated workflows within lending platforms (configuration-driven workflows and rules).
  • Experience with Power Automate, RPA platforms, and automation patterns (or equivalent tooling).
  • Working knowledge of lending processes and lending documentation workflows.
  • SQL/reporting or data validation experience; familiarity with integrations and APIs is a plus.
  • Experience mentoring junior staff or interns and performing peer review.
