What are the responsibilities and job description for the Loan Review Officer I position at First Mid?
The Loan Review Officer I is responsible for assessing the level of credit risk of the Bank’s loan portfolio primarily through the performance of analytical reviews of new and existing individual commercial and agricultural credit relationships.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Perform credit analyses on large commercial and agricultural credit relationships and assign risk ratings based on established written parameters approved by the Board of Directors. Additionally, perform analyses on previously identified problem credits noting specific actions expected to reduce the level of credit risk in these credits.
- Review for compliance with prudent underwriting standards based on internal policy and industry specifications.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with loan officer personnel regarding the analysis of the credit relationships.
- Communicate results of credit analyses in written form for distribution to management personnel.
- Track and log all risk grade changes for the monthly reports.
- Produce monthly classified loan reports for presentation to the Loan Administration Committee and Board of Directors.
- Produce monthly non-performing reports for presentation to the Loan Administration Committee.
- Complete selective quarterly reports which provide support to the ACL analysis.
- Complete the quarterly analysis of the commercial real estate and ag loan portfolios.
- Complete required training associated with job function.
Qualifications
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred or commensurate banking experience
Skills:
- High level of analytical skills and extensive knowledge of credit underwriting and documentation standards for all types of loans.
- Extensive knowledge of regulatory requirements and expectations related to the lending function.
- Good organizational skills and ability to substantiate reviews with detailed work papers.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office with advanced training in Microsoft Excel preferred.
- Communicate clearly and professionally.
- Work effectively as part of a team to achieve established outcomes.
- Maintain confidentiality and discretion.
