Job Description
General Description: The food service person will assist the Kitchen Manager with the overall preparation and cleaning up of preschool meals, including a light breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snack. The hours of the food service person are Monday-Friday 7:00am-12:00pm. The food service person shall report to the Preschool Director.
Qualifications: The person selected for this position should be knowledgeable about the protocols of preparing food and maintaining a sanitary kitchen. He or she must be able to lift groceries to higher shelving and assist in unloading from a vehicle up one flight of stairs. He or she must also be a mature individual who is able to relate well to both children and adults.
Required by Licensing: Medical Exam, Criminal Background Check and Fingerprinting,
Maltreatment Check, 2 Letters of Recommendation, Resume, Proof of Negative TB Test, Online Pre-service and Child Abuse/Neglect Training, Food Handler Permit.
Additional Requirements: Drug testing on request
Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
- Provide the students at First Presby Preschool with nutritious and appetizing meals that meet the requirements in portion sizes and nutritional value set forth by WV licensing
- Provide meals in a timely manner based on the schedule of individual classrooms
- Maintain sufficient inventory of food items and supplies
- Maintain an orderly kitchen, food pantry, and kitchen cabinets in both kitchens
- Maintain the cleanliness and functioning of both kitchens to meet federal, state, and local regulations, including those of the Kanawha/Charleston Board of Health
- Be conscious of existing food allergies and diet restrictions of the students in the program
- Report any needed maintenance of the facility or equipment to the Maintenance

- Secure the Activities Building upon exit
