Overview
The Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for placement and oversight of accurate inventory in the warehouse.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement methods to ensure accurate inventory levels and placement at facility
- Responsible for independently controlling inventory assets via inventory stock adjustment
- Review product and product line periodically to determine capacity needs
- Identify and optimize common inventory items among facilities with regard to product transfers
- Perform forecasting for all product lines in conjunction with department managers
- Develop and implement innovative methods to dispose of dead inventory
- Work effectively and jointly with cross functional teams including those from Purchasing, Sales and Warehouse
- Conduct or supervise audits of facility inventory on a scheduled basis
- Conduct and/or coordinate training of employees on processes involving inventory management and cycle counting
- Follow-up on defective and return good claims with reps or manufacturers for items that can be returned or scrapped
- Monitor, analyze and provide direction for daily audit of unavailable inventory
- Ensure that company guidelines for the disposition of un-tied non-stock product are adhered to
- Perform reviews and assist in the hiring and terming of all appropriate staff
- Other duties/responsibilities as assigned by the Warehouse/Operations and/or General Manager
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in logistics, warehouse management, or similar discipline
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required
- Knowledge or experience with plumbing and heating products preferred
- Computer knowledge and skills, especially as it relates to inventory, and the ability to learn First Supply LLC’s business system
- Knowledge of business and management principles at it pertains to leadership technique and coordination of people and resources (or ability to motivate, develop and direct people as they work, identifying the best people for the job)
- Ability to read, speak, understand and write English
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure
- Attendance on a regular and consistent basis
